OUR ASSOCIATE PASTOR
Rev. Russell Buisch and his wife, Carole, are both from the Finger Lakes area of New York State. They have two married daughters, two married sons, and 8 grandchildren, 3 Jersey girls, 2 Florida boys, 2 Connecticut kids, and one Indiana individual (girl). Pastor Buisch received a B.A degree from Houghton College, Houghton, New York in 1970 and an M. Div. degree from Western Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary, Portland, Oregon in 1973. Upon completion of his formal training he was appointed by the Conservative Baptist Home Mission Society to establish a new church work in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He was called to pastor the Somers Baptist Church, Somers, Connecticut, in April of 1977. Under his leadership at Somers the church moved from the elementary school in which they were meeting to their own church building on Battle Street. The steady increase in attendance led to three building expansions. In May of 1992 he felt called back into the ministry of establishing new churches and set up the transition to the new church in Ellington as Somers Baptist prepared to call a new pastor to carry on in Somers. He was again appointed by the Conservative Baptist Home Mission and Ellington Baptist Church officially was founded on July 1, 1993.
